What's the deal with girls and horses?

So, after years of wanting, wishing, hoping and waiting...I finally have a horse of my very own.

This is Ranger:

He's 14, a thoroughbred, sweet as can be, and mostly dead calm on the trail. Sadly, I'm no longer dead calm, even though I used to be a fearless trail jockey. I have to get back into riding shape, lol. He was free, and we got a phenomenal deal on the board, so two horses cost me only slightly more than one. YAY FOR TISH!!!

Some things I've learned on the three trails rides out with Ranger and Marcella on her horse Misty, since we got Ranger two weeks ago:
1) Don't ride during your time of the month. It makes you anxious and the horse senses it.
2) Don't ride on trash day. Freakin trash trucks EVERYWHERE.
3) Dogs are assholes. And screaming owners of dogs chasing their stupid dogs are assholes.
4) If you can only ride once a week, turn your horse out and longe him BEFORE hitting the trail. Otherwise, he's energetic and wants to argue. Which is not cool if you've forgotten all your horse savvy and become terrified during tantrums.
5) Stay calm.
6) My daughter has become a really good horsewoman since she started taking lessons 4 years ago.
7) I still love my horse.

I HAVE A HORSE!!!!!
